Q: How long have you been involved with The Open Group?
I have been involved with The Open Group for four years. After being on the Board of Directors, I became Chair of The Open Group Governing Board in 2015.
Q. What do you do, and how long have you been doing it?
I am the director responsible for customer advocacy and business direction for industry standards for Oracle's systems software products. His direct responsibilities include Solaris kernel, drivers and conformance and driving programs around serviceability, performance and virtualization.
Q: Why did your organization become a member and what does your involvement look like?
Oracle (and Sun before that) has participated in the in the Open Group since inception and prior when it was X/Open.
2010, Oracle upgraded to Platinum membership.
Q: How has membership in The Open Group benefited you, your organization and the industry at large?
The benefit to Oracle has been substantial both in terms of value add to our products via UNIX certification and in general to our business through enterprise architecture/management, real-time/embedded systems, security, etc.
Q: What contributions do you hope to bring to The Open Group?
My hope is to increase Oracle's value to The Open Group through greater involvement in all forums. Also my hope is to also bring new perspectives around technology and industry directions to increase The Open Group's value proposition.
Q: Why is it important for other organizations to join The Open Group?
The Open Group brings suppliers, vendors and customers together to solve critical business and technology problems through standards, certifications, etc in a supportive and well organized environment. Organizations who join will benefit from that suppliers/vendors/customers collaboration, the shared knowledge and the output of those standards and certification efforts.
Q: What are your hobbies?
Voracious reading, world travel and photography.
